DUBAI – The Omani pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 will open tomorrow (Friday), October 1, 2021, under the auspices of Mohsin Khamis Al Balushi, Adviser to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Promotion and Oman’s General Commissioner at the expo.
The opening ceremony will be attended by Dr Sayyid Ahmed Hilal Al Busaidi, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Salim Musallam Al Katheeri, Head of Oman’s Commercial Office in Dubai, and Ridha Jumaa Al Saleh, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), among other Omani officials.
Khalid Salim Al Zuhaimi, Director of Oman’s Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020, said the Omani pavilion is ready to receive visitors, who will have a pleasant experience viewing its contents through the use of audiovisual gadgets and systems and an array of modern technology equipment.
“The pavilion, designed and is run by qualified Omani youths, also showcases informative literature about achievements and success stories, among them Omani initiatives across various sectors,” said Al Zuhaimi.
Al Zuhaimi pointed out that the design of Oman pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 has been inspired by the frankincense tree, the natural icon that characterized Omani experience throughout the ages. “That is why the pavilion is divided into five sectors simulating the lifecycle of the frankincense tree. The pavilion accommodates the three sub-divisions of Dubai Expo 2020, which are sustainability, opportunities and transport.
The Sultanate’s participation in Dubai Expo 2020 stems from a desire to portray Oman as a unique tourism destination, as well as the country’s deep-rooted civilization and cultural heritage, said Al Zuhaimi, adding that the expo is a platform to promote investment opportunities in different sectors in Oman and the Sultanate’s interaction with the global community.
Over the next six months, the Omani pavilion at Dubai Expo will host a number of activities, including scholarly, technical, cultural and economic symposia, said Al Zuhaimi, who explained that a number of weeklong events will focus on specialized economic activities, including an Omani products exhibition, a small and medium establishments exposition and an investment week that will highlight promising investment opportunities in the Sultanate.
