Oman wins advanced places in GCC Competition on Holy Qur’an, Prophet’s speeches

MUSCAT – An Omani team from the Directorate General of Youth won advanced places in the “GCC Competition on Holy Qur’an Memorization and Interpretation of Prophet Mohammed’s Speeches (or Hadith)”.

The contest was organised by the Secretariat General of the GCC States.

Oman’s team won first place, at the individual level, in Category 1 of the contest, set for competitors who memorize the entire Holy Qur’an and fully understand the interpretation of 70 Hadiths or speeches of the Prophet. The trophy was bagged by Mu’aadh Said Al Dhoyani.

Oman also won second place, as a team, in Category 1 of the contest (memorizing the entire Holy Qur’an and fully understanding the interpretation of 70 Hadiths). This was in addition to second place in Category 2 of the contest (memorizing 20 parts of the Holy Qur’an and 70 Hadiths).

It is worth mentioning that the competition is organised by the respective ministries of youth and sports. Each GCC state hosts the annual competition in rotation.
