Oman participates in meetings of UNESCO Executive Board

PARIS – The Sultanate of Oman participated in tasks of the UNESCO Executive Board’s 219th session being convened in Paris from March 13-27,2024.


Oman was represented at the meeting by Dr. Hamad Saif Al Hamami, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to UNESCO, among other officials.

In his speech, Al Hamami said that Oman gained membership to the UNESCO Executive Board for the period 2023-2027.


Al Hamami touched on the Palestinian crisis which, he said, occupies centre stage in the world. He pointed out that Oman called for urgent measures to stop the war on the Gaza Strip and other Palestinian territories. He stressed the need to apply the international law to protect civilians, ensure their humanitarian needs and lift the illegal siege on Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories.

Al Hamami reiterated Oman’s commitment to consolidating the principles of constructive dialogue and the values of tolerance in society.
