
MUSCAT — The Oman Pakistan Friendship Association (OPFA) was officially launched in Muscat in a step that reflects the deep- rooted historical and fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, while further strengthening efforts to promote cooperation and closer ties between the two friendly peoples in the cultural, social, economic, and investment sectors.
The launch of the Association comes at a time when Oman–Pakistan relations continue to witness steady growth and development. It also comes during the reign of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, whose wise leadership continues to advance Oman’s renewed renaissance and reinforce the Sultanate’s position as a nation of peace, tolerance, and cooperation. This relationship is likewise supported by the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which places great importance on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding partnership with the Sultanate of Oman.
The Association received invaluable support and cooperation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, whose constructive efforts were instrumental in facilitating the establishment and official registration of the Association. His Excellency Dr. Syed Naveed Safdar Bokhari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Sultanate of Oman, likewise played a pivotal role in championing this initiative and strengthening coordination and collaboration among the relevant stakeholders, helping transform this vision into a meaningful and impactful reality.
The Association aims to serve as an active institutional platform for promoting friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation between the two countries through supporting cultural, social, and economic initiatives, encouraging engagement between individuals and institutions, and creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, investment, and sustainable partnerships.
The Association also intends to organize economic forums, investment conferences, cultural events, community programs, and youth initiatives that contribute to strengthening cooperation in trade, tourism, education, technology, logistics, entrepreneurship, and other sectors of mutual interest.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah, Founder and President of the OPFA, expressed his profound pride in the official launch of the Oman Pakistan Friendship Association, emphasising that it represents a significant addition to the distinguished relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and serves as an effective institutional platform for promoting cooperation, strengthening mutual understanding, and building sustainable strategic partnerships. He also extended his highest appreciation and gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, praising His Majesty’s wise leadership and visionary outlook, which have strengthened the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a beacon of peace, tolerance, and international cooperation, while supporting initiatives that foster friendship, mutual understanding, and closer ties among friendly nations and peoples.
The launch ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering of Their Highnesses, Their Excellencies, Foreign Ambassadors, Senior Government officials, Diplomats, Sheikhs, Walis, Business leaders, Prominent public figures, Media representatives, and members of Civil society institutions from the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, reflecting the depth of the distinguished relations and longstanding historical ties between the two friendly nations.
