Oman braces for Paris 2024 World Hockey qualifiers

AL AMERAT – Oman will host World Hockey Qualifiers for Paris 2024 Summer Olympics from 15 to 21 January 2024. The Wilayat of Al Amerat in the Governorate of Muscat will be venue for matches that will bring together national teams of Pakistan, China, Malaysia, England, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, and Chile.


During a press conference held at the Oman Hockey Complex in the Wilayat of Al Amerat today, Tayyab Ikram, President of the International Hockey Federation, said that the qualifiers constitute a turning point for the participating teams due to the importance of the global sporting events. He commended the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the efforts of the Oman Hockey Association to make the qualifiers a success.


He pointed out that the cities of Ranchi (India), Valencia (Spain) and Muscat (Oman) play host to these important Olympic qualifiers, which, he added, will bring about an exceptional and exciting atmosphere, given the fact that the events will be a showcase for the world’s strongest teams.


Dr Marwan Juma Al Juma, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Hockey Association, affirmed the readiness of Oman Hockey Complex, which will be qualified to host local, Arab, Asian and international tournaments.


The Ministry and Omani Hockey Federation devised a set of goals for this Olympic hosting, including the promotion of tourism and development in economic sports fields in the Sultanate of Oman as envisaged in Oman Vision 2040.
