“In essence, more women in leadership roles are needed. Once, women keep standing with women; once women remain supporting women, then stronger and powerful voices can be heard, better changes, and brighter future awaits,” feels Lubna Al Balushi, multilingual (Arabic, German, English and Balochi) poet.
“Women leaders have the natural ability to step up and meet any challenges, ensuring work-life balance, navigating tensions and taking risks,” she notes. “Thus, a woman tolerates, stays absorbing the challenges, ensures success and prosperity for their companies and their nations,” she adds.

Excerpts:

Women across the world in companies often get into a ‘gender double bind’ – when they become aggressive in their work, they are ‘insensitive’, when they exercise empathy, they are ‘indecisive’. Does it bother you?
As women, we keep learning to move on and don’t bother about it as much as possible! It may create doubts and uncertainties at the beginning of a woman’s career; but once firmly on a career path, they would learn to reach beyond such double blinds. In fact, there are several situations where I need to toughen up and speak louder. So, I always choose to act decisively in order to reach and fulfill the assigned tasks and targets.

The global pandemic was a sphere in which women leaders showed their mettle. What is this essence of a woman that helps them dismantle the usual narrative and help them veer their companies from disaster to success and beyond?
In her core essence, a woman shows supreme energy along with tremendous patience. Neither simple nor easy, women leaders step up to meet any challenges, ensuring work-life balance, navigating tensions and taking risks. Thus, she tolerates, stays absorbing the challenges, ensures success and prosperity for their companies.

Many qualities of women come to the fore in a crisis – how do they (or you) transpose this into the work ecosystem?
Several studies have concluded that women showed great inner strength during crises.  Indeed, most – if not all — women leaders are motivated by challenges! For instance, women met the extra challenges that resulted from the consequences of the pandemic. She took upon working longer hours in spite of the extra care giving responsibilities during the pandemic. It is all about how women value their work-life balance. Certainly, a successful female leader highly takes required balance into consideration to ensure reasonable performance and well-being of a dedicated team. Also, staying focused on teamwork via demonstrating passion, motivation and enthusiasm. Overall, women have always been the natural multitasker.

While you may argue that women are at present ruling the world, when will the time come when they will, without a doubt, rule the world?
When some essential changes happen to the world! Right on top, empowering women further and further. In a true essence, more women in leadership roles are needed. Once, women keep standing with women; once women remain supporting women, then stronger and powerful voices can be heard, better changes, and brighter future awaits.

What are the fundamental characteristics that help a woman shine in the corporate world?
Self-motivation, awareness and above all, self-belief helps women shine in every sector she steps into. The other important aspects would be having a clear vision and proper goals; positive thinking and reinforcement, sharing experiences and supporting other women. To stay shining, it is a matter of healthy work-life balance!
