Bank Muscat CSR pioneers in supporting persons with disabilities

MUSCAT – In line with its commitment to contribute in empowering persons with disabilities, Bank Muscat is keen to support persons with disabilities through CSR programmes and initiatives in partnership with government institutions and NGOs. Recently, Bank Muscat Participated in the event the Ministry of Social Development organized on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. During the event, the Ministry of Social Development honored Bank Muscat for its constant support. The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Laila Ahmed Al-Najjar, Minister of Social Development, where Hamza Abbas Al Ajmi, Deputy General Manager – Credit, Bank Muscat, received the honor from Her Excellency. On the same occasion, the bank was also honored for its CSR initiatives to provide support to persons with disabilities on the event the Oman Association of Persons with Disability held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, where Taya Eid Bait Sabeea, Deputy General Manager, Governorates, Bank Muscat, received the award.

On this occasion, Hamza Abbas Al Ajmi, Deputy General Manager – Credit, Bank Muscat, said: “We are proud to participate in this important event organized by the Ministry and of all the tremendous efforts that the Ministry of Social Development and various government and private institutions, NGOs and individuals are keen to put for the development of services and facilities for persons with disabilities. The bank pays great attention to activities, events and social responsibility programmes especially those targeted at developing facilities and services for persons with disabilities. These efforts are in line with the bank’s commitment to deliver long-term benefits for the disabled and helping them integrates into mainstream society, as well as encourages all efforts working towards ensuring the welfare of persons with disabilities.” He further pointed out that the bank will continue working on developing sustainable programmes that provide support to the community.

Taya Eid Bait Sabeea, Deputy General Manager, Governorates, Bank Muscat, said: “In Bank Muscat, we pay great attention to persons with disabilities and work closely with different institutions across Oman to provide suitable environment to enhance their role in society. On this occasion, we would like to extend our appreciation to Oman Association of Persons with Disability for their constant cooperation and partnership with the bank and for their contribution to develop various services that can help persons with disabilities.”

Bank Muscat has taken many measures for the inclusion of persons with disabilities into mainstream society through its CSR initiatives and programmes. The bank’s efforts in this regard include the operation of a special ATM with a special transaction flow for blind and visually-impaired people. Also, special access ramps and other arrangements for easy access have been made available at different branches and ATMs in Oman. The bank has also trained a number of its branch employees in sign language to facilitate easy communication with the hearing impaired. Bank Muscat is constantly innovating to improve and enhance inclusivity through its various sustainability programmes and is keen to partner likeminded organisations to ensure the goals of inclusivity and overall renaissance of the country.
