OTC to Organise 6th Edition of ‘Women in Tourism’ Forum

MUSCAT – Oman Tourism College (OTC) is preparing to organise the 6th Edition of its annual forum ‘Women in Tourism’, which will be held on Monday, October 19th at 10:30am through Microsoft Teams. The launch of this forum coincides with the Sultanate’s celebration of Omani Women’s Day, which falls on October 17th every year and commemorates the growing participation of women in the tourism and hospitality sectors in the Sultanate.

Highlighting the importance of the forum, Sariya Nasser Al Ismaili, Acting Director of Marketing at OTC said, “Due to the current situation caused by the onset of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), which requires everyone to adhere to measures of social distancing, we have decided to conduct this forum virtually. In this way, we can create a channel for open interaction and discuss the new local and regional developments in the tourism and hospitality sectors, which have been created as a result of the pandemic. Moreover, we aim to shed light on the pivotal role of Omani women in the tourism industry, highlight the efforts of key figures who have been able to overcome challenges, and engage in their success stories, so that can be a source of inspiration for other women as well.”

This year’s focuses on the indirect impact of COVID-19 on Women in Tourism. The forum will see the presence of several prominent figures in the tourism sector including, Manal Al Kiyumi, OCEC Marketing Manager, Ghaniya Al Mawaali, OmanSail Client Services Account Manager, Wisal Al Rashdi, Licensed Omani Tour Guide and Anna-Marie Dowling, IHG Oman Area General Manager.

Participants can stand a chance to win a free adventure trip to explore tourist sights in Oman, as part of a raffle draw. The draw is sponsored by Nuzha, a local entity that organises adventure, tourism and sports activities for women.
