VIENNA — The first direct flight of SalamAir, the low-cost carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, arrived today at Vienna International Airport in the Republic of Austria.

This arrival marks the inauguration of the first direct air route connecting the two countries, a step that enhances the carrier’s presence in Europe and expands its network of international destinations.

The aircraft received an official reception upon its arrival at Vienna Airport, attended by Yousuf Ahmed Al Jabri, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Austria, and Julian Jäger, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Vienna Airport.

In a press statement, the ambassador stated that the inauguration of the first direct air route between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Austria through SalamAir enhances bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. He emphasised that it will contribute to boosting tourism traffic and cultural exchange between the Omani and Austrian peoples. Furthermore, it opens broader horizons for communication among private sector institutions and companies in both nations, thereby supporting trade and investment opportunities and strengthening economic partnerships.

SalamAir operates this route with three weekly flights, providing passengers with a direct and convenient option to travel between Muscat and Vienna. This new service contributes to cementing Muscat’s position as a strategic gateway that connects Europe with the Gulf region, Asia, and East Africa. Passengers can easily book their flights to Vienna via the SalamAir website, mobile application, sales offices, and travel partners.
