MUSCAT – Keeping up with the Ramadan and the football spirit, Ooredoo supported the 19th edition of the Ghazi Ramadan Football Tournament in Sur as the official Telecoms sponsors. Held under the patronage of HE Dr Yahya Al Mawali, Governor of South Sharqiyah and organised by Oman LNG, the tournament has been a firm favourite in the community for the past 20 years.
Starting with 32 teams from government entities and private sector companies, the final game took place on Tuesday 19 April at Sur Sports Club with the team from the Oman Charitable Organisation taking the trophy. The final brought a cheering and bustling crowd to the arena, showing how popular the tournament is with football fans in Sur and the close bond between Ooredoo and local companies, and the community.
Always looking for fun ways to engage with the local communities, Ooredoo has held several football tournaments during the Holy Month, including competitions in Muscat, Nizwa and Salalah, offering players and fans across the country a great chance to take part and keep fit during Ramadan.
Ooredoo will continue to support football in Oman by hosting official Fan Parks during the upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup kicking off on 21 November 2022, so that fans can enjoy all the action live on big outdoor screens and experience the atmosphere of a month-long festival of football.
