Oman, FAO hold consultative meeting on climate risks

MUSCAT – The FAO Office in Muscat today organized a consultative meeting with the authorities concerned in the Sultanate of Oman. The meeting was attended by representatives of the sectors of agriculture, water, environment and climate change.


The meeting relates to a framework agreement signed by the FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources to start a new climate-friendly activity within the context of a project titled “Building a Resilient Environment and Agricultural and Water Sustainable Resources in the Sultanate of Oman”. The project is funded by the Green Climate Fund.


The meeting outlined the project’s objectives, the scope of its studies and the programme of its implementation. A panel discussion offered an opportunity to listen to the views of the participants.


The project activities include means of developing a communication and coordination network that connect representatives of government institutions and private sector establishments operating in the fields of farming, water supplies and climate change sectors. The network is entrusted to enhance integration among all to help adapt to climate change.
