Embassy of India Sewa Utsav consular – cum – health camp

MUSCAT – Embassy of India, Muscat organised a consular – cum – health camp for workers in association with Al Ansari Group and Badr al Samaa Hospital. The camp was organised on Friday, April 01, 2022 at Al Ansari Group labour camp in Muscat. The event was held as part of Sewa Utsav being organised by the Embassy of India from March 31 to April 16, 2022 to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence which is being celebrated as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Ambassador addressed the gathering and acknowledged the contribution of Indian blue-collar workers in Oman’s economy, as approximately 400,000 blue collar workers are employed in various sectors. Ambassador highlighted that welfare of workers and protection of their rights is a priority for the Government of India. The participants were also informed about various schemes and programs of the Government related to migrant Indian workers. A presentation on health and basic hygiene was given to the participants, which was well appreciated. As a part of health camp, basic health screening including blood pressure and sugar was done of the participants, which benefited approximately 100 workers.

The workers also presented a short cultural program including dance and song performances, which gave them an opportunity to express themselves and do something different from their usual routine.
