MUSCAT – In line with its strong commitment to social responsibility, community service and keenness to contribute to national development, Bank Muscat the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate of Oman, has strengthened its partnership with the Omani Fishermen’s Association.
The bank recently provided 35 refrigerators to fishermen in the Wilayat of Sur at a ceremony organised at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sur under the auspices of H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the Deputy Wali of Sur. The event was also attended by Dr Juma bin Mohammed Al Maamari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Fishermen’s Association, and Abdullah bin Juma Al Araimi, Senior Regional Manager, Dakhliyah and Sharqiyah, Bank Muscat.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdullah bin Juma Al Araimi, Senior Regional Manager, Bank Muscat, expressed his happiness with this partnership with the Omani Fishermen’s Association. He said that the bank was keen to strengthen its partnership with various civil society organisations so as to provide the best services to different sections of society. He added that this support would contribute to the further growth and development opportunities for fishermen in Sur and improve their overall quality of life. Abdullah Al Araimi pointed out the importance of fisheries as one of the promising sectors identified for further development under Oman Vision 2040. He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Omani Association of Fishermen for their efforts and hard work in aiding fishermen across the Sultanate, and wished them all success in their future endeavours.
On his part, Dr Juma bin Mohammed Al Maamari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Fishermen’s Association, extended his sincere thanks to Bank Muscat for the effective role played by the bank in supporting various civil society organisations and institutions in Oman. He stated that the bank’s initiative would play a positive role in bettering the livelihood of fishermen and strengthen the national economy. He also described the role being played by the Omani Fishermen’s Association in promoting various fisheries related activities such as the production and marketing of fish and related products, provision of suitable equipment to the fishing community in the Sultanate and partnering with the concerned authorities to further develop Oman’s fisheries sector.
