EXCERPTS:
Women’s Day generally brings forth many thoughts: women’s equality/gender parity; women’s rights and the foremost need to break the bias (against women). Here, in Oman, could we say that it is more than just celebrating womanhood; here it is celebrating the success (various types of success, not just the monetary kind) of Omani women and also the unique integration between the two genders, who are working together to achieve a better future for Oman? Your thoughts on this.
Omani Women’s Day is far greater than just a celebration of our femininity for us as Omani women; it’s a potent symbol of our shared history, resiliency, and will to create a better future. This day commemorates our progress, which has been made possible by a society that not only accepts our decisions but also supports them and promotes our ascent. It’s about taking satisfaction in our accomplishments, big and little, and the numerous career pathways we’ve forged in entrepreneurship, leadership, education, and other fields.

How would you view the growth and advancement of Omani women in the last many years? What would you like to say about that?
Together, Omani men and women have forged a partnership built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the future of Oman. We are not just celebrating women’s accomplishments; we are celebrating a unique collaboration—an integration of strength, skills, and perspectives that is propelling our nation forward.

Also, with regards to the advancement, would you say that today the Omani woman is on par with any other woman of the world? If not, what more should be done?
In recent years, the progress of Omani women has been nothing short of inspiring. We’ve made significant strides in nearly every sector, from pioneering educational initiatives to breaking barriers in business and leadership. Yet, our vision stretches far beyond our borders. We are not only striving to lead within Oman but to take our place as global influencers, where Omani women can shape industries, drive innovation, and create lasting change on the world stage.
But for us to realise our greatest potential, we must remain empowered. This translates into more chances, increased awareness, and venues where our opinions and voices may be heard. To rethink what’s possible for future generations, it will be necessary to create an atmosphere in which women are not only participants but leaders in every way. Then and only then can the actual narrative of Omani women—a story of tenacity, aspiration, and limitless potential—be completely told.
