The Royal Thai Embassy brings authentic cuisine to MHA

MUSCAT – The Royal Thai Embassy in Oman, in collaboration with Muscat Hospitality Academy (MHA), announced the success of the Thai Culinary Workshop on September 29 -30, 2024. This unique workshop was led by Executive Chef Shakriya Kanasasanat, a chef with over 18 years of experience in Thai and international cuisine.

Held at MHA’s state-of-the-art campus, the workshop featured morning and afternoon sessions on both days, offering participants an opportunity to immerse themselves in the art of authentic Thai cooking. Chef Shakriya guided attendees through the preparation of traditional dishes such as Laab Gai, Thai Green Curry, Pad Kaprao, and Tom Yum Kung Soup. Participants gained valuable insights into the unique ingredients and techniques that define Thai cuisine.



Ek-att Thitaram, Chargé d’Affaires, of the Royal Thai Embassy, said in his welcome remarks that, “The workshop is part of the Royal Thai Embassy’s efforts to promote Thailand as a global hub for food and agriculture and also to encourage young students of MHA to learn about Thai dishes and ingredients.” Participants included members of the diplomatic corps, MHA students, and the general public, offering a diverse learning environment. Through this collaboration, MHA continues to enhance its role as a leading institution providing premier Swiss-quality education in the hospitality sector, in partnership with EHL Group, the world’s leader in hospitality education.

Ameena Al Zadjali, Founder and Chairperson of MHA, commented on the workshop, saying, “We are excited to collaborate with the Royal Thai Embassy for this culinary workshop. Chef Shakriya Kanasasanat, a graduate of Dhurakij Pundit University in Bangkok, brings with her a wealth of experience in hotel management, culinary arts, and restaurant operations. Her expertise in both authentic and modern Thai cuisine will provide participants with a comprehensive learning experience that bridges tradition with innovation.
