MUSCAT — In view of the observed increase on social media platforms in the frequency of posts and interactions that invite legal accountability, and in accordance with the Public Prosecution’s mandate to enforce the provisions of penal legislation, it hereby exhorts all citizens, residents, and users of social media to refrain from capturing, publishing, or disseminating any visual materials, images, or information pertaining to incidents, sites, installations, or any content liable to disturb public order or sow panic within the community.

The Public Prosecution emphasizes that the publication or republication of rumors and unverified information shall render its perpetrators subject to legal accountability as prescribed by law.
