MUSCAT – The Sultanate of Oman occupied a prominent place in the top list of the worlds “cybersecurity-wise most prepared countries”, according to the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) edition released by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The GCI’s first list comprises countries that scored (95-100) within the five criteria of the index. Oman’s overall performance rose from 96 points in the 2020 index to 97.02 points in the 2024 index.

The ITU prepares the index after considering five criteria: the legal standard, the technical standard, the regulatory standard, the capacity building standard and the international cooperation standard.

The report showed that Oman obtained the full number of points dedicated to the “international cooperation and institutional organization standard”, 19.59 points in the “legal standard”, 18.39 points in the “technical standard” and 19.03 points in the “capacity building standard”.
