MANAH – Oman Across Ages Museum (OAAM) has joined the International Council of Museums (ICOM), headquartered in Paris. The step places the museum on the map of global museums and allows it to benefit from international expertise.
Eng. Al Yaqdhan Abdullah Al Harthi, Director General of the Oman Across Ages Museum, said that the OAAM’s joining of the ICOM would help the Omani museum’s operators to conduct international meetings, forums, research and studies specialized in the museum field.
He added that the step would also help upgrade the efficiency and efforts of the museum’s intendants.
The ICOM is a non-governmental organization dedicated to museums that sets professional and ethical standards for museum activities. It also makes recommendations on matters related to cultural heritage and raises public cultural awareness.
