MUSCAT — Dr Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information, has affirmed the keenness of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to prioritise everything that serves the nation and its citizens, highlighting His Majesty’s dedicated attention to his people across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

Speaking as a guest on the “Sabah Al Shabab” (Youth Morning) program on Oman Radio today, the Minister stated that the indicators and milestones achieved in Oman over the past six years reflect this Royal care. These efforts have manifested in tangible improvements across social, economic, and financial sectors. He noted that international indices and global research centers have lauded the progress made by the Sultanate of Oman during this period.

Dr Harrasi emphasised that His Majesty the Sultan consistently underscores, in his speeches and meetings, the importance of addressing negative social and cultural phenomena within the ‘open space’. He explained that during a recent Council of Ministers meeting, His Majesty directed a comprehensive study and diagnosis of behavioral changes in society to establish clear governance policies and mechanisms. This reflects a civilised leadership vision focused on the welfare of the nation and its people.

Regarding modern communication tools, the Minister noted that while they have fundamentally changed the world, the shift is not entirely negative. Proper use of these platforms can make them effective tools for upbringing, communication, self-development, social cohesion, and institutional performance. He pointed out that despite this progress, negative side effects have emerged within households and society, contributing to a widening generational gap between parents and the youth. He stressed that while older generations may lack technical expertise, their life experience remains a vital foundation, even in the context of using advanced technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Dr Harrasi clarified that the recent Council of Ministers statement aims to protect the youth from potential negative influences that could impact their current capabilities and future potential. The Minister observed that several countries have begun regulating social media use for individuals under a certain age. He clarified that this does not mean a total ban on the internet, but rather the regulation of specific harmful applications while keeping educational and cultural resources accessible.

On the subject of AI, the Minister remarked that Big Data and rapid processing carries significant opportunities as well as challenges. He stated that His Majesty always identifies areas of risk while simultaneously drawing attention to the vast positive potential of this field.

In a world characterised by rapid change, political volatility, and intellectual shifts, the Minister affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman remains a stable country, moving forward with confidence and balance and puts humans at the center of its priorities. He emphasised that Oman has remained an oasis of stability amidst global uncertainty, thanks to its wise leadership, rational policies, and refusal to be drawn into conflicts or polarisations.

The Minister concluded by stating that this balanced approach is what built and protected Oman and enabled it to steadily navigate a turbulent world. He noted that the leadership’s clear objective of serving the nation and its citizens, protecting humanity, and preserving stability reflects tangible results on the ground.

He noted that as Oman enters the seventh year of its “Renewed Renaissance,” it moves with a clear vision that places the human being at the heart of development, handling challenges with awareness and facing the future with unwavering faith in the capabilities of the nation and its people.
