MUSCAT — The latest weather charts from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center indicate heavy thunderstorms tomorrow, Saturday, which may be accompanied by hail and active downdraft winds.

The Center stated that the effects of this weather system will extend to a number of governorates, with rainfall expected to concentrate in Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, A’Dhahirah, A’Dakhiliyah and Muscat, as well as parts of North A’Sharqiyah and South A’Sharqiyah.

The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center cautioned that rainfall of varying intensity, possibly accompanied by hail, could lead to flash floods and wadis. Active downdraft winds with speeds ranging from 28 to 46 km/h (15 to 35 knots) are also anticipated, which may result in reduced horizontal visibility during rainfall.

The Center added that the effects will continue to affect parts of Musandam, Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates, where scattered rains, occasionally thundery, is expected, with limited impact in these areas.

The Civil Aviation Authority urges the public to exercise caution and vigilance during thunderstorms, to avoid crossing wadis and low-lying areas, and to refrain from venturing out to sea during the alert period in the interest of public safety.
