Omani Women’s Day is a tribute to the transformative role Omani women play in all walks of life, says SHUROOQ AL FARSI, co-founder, Ceen Marketing.
Celebration of milestones

“It’s more than a celebration of professional milestones; it’s an acknowledgment that every woman, no matter her role, is a beacon of strength and inspiration,” Shurooq said in remarks made to Purple online.
Force to be reckoned with
“Omani women have come a long way, breaking barriers and setting new standards in every field, proving that we are a force to be reckoned with. We stand proudly alongside women from around the world, empowered and ready to achieve even more. What excites me most is we still have a journey ahead of us in ensuring that every woman in Oman has access to the same opportunities for growth and leadership,” Shurooq further said.

EXCERPTS:
Women’s Day generally brings forth many thoughts: women’s equality/gender parity; women’s rights and the foremost need to break the bias (against women). Here, in Oman, could we say that it is more than just celebrating womanhood; here it is celebrating the success (various types of success, not just the monetary kind) of Omani women and also the unique integration between the two genders, who are working together to achieve a better future for Oman? Your thoughts on this.
Omani Women’s Day is a tribute to the transformative role Omani women play in all walks of life. It’s more than a celebration of professional milestones; it’s an acknowledgment that every woman, no matter her role, is a beacon of strength and inspiration. Whether nurturing families, contributing within their communities, or leading in their professions, Omani women are proving that success takes many forms, and each is equally valuable. Here in Oman, we celebrate this powerful integration of talents and efforts—where women and men together build a future rooted in shared values and mutual respect. Omani women are lifting each other and paving paths for the next generation, exemplifying that our achievements are a collective legacy for all of Oman.

How would you view the growth and advancement of Omani women in the last many years? What would you like to say about that?
The remarkable progress of Omani women over the years is something I have not only witnessed but deeply cherish. Growing up in a household filled with strong, intelligent women was a privilege and a profound influence in my life. My mother led the way, one of the first in Oman to embrace teaching as a mission in the 1970s, driven by a passionate belief in the power of education to uplift and empower young Omani girls. Watching her dedication within the educational system was profoundly inspiring; with each lesson, she shaped minds and futures, showing that women could be pioneers and leaders.
Alongside her were my exceptional sisters and countless other Omani women, each embodying strength, wisdom, and resilience in their own lives. They set powerful examples of hard work, dedication, and unyielding spirit, instilling in me — and many others — the conviction that education and empowerment are forces of true transformation. The incredible strides Omani women have made in recent years stand on the foundation laid by women like them, whose sacrifices and vision inspire us to reach even greater heights.

Also, with regards to the advancement, would you say that today the Omani woman is on par with any other woman of the world? If not, what more should be done?
Omani women have come a long way, breaking barriers and setting new standards in every field, proving that we are a force to be reckoned with. We stand proudly alongside women from around the world, empowered and ready to achieve even more. What excites me most is we still have a journey ahead of us in ensuring that every woman in Oman has access to the same opportunities for growth and leadership. There is an ongoing need to ensure women’s representation in decision-making bodies and higher leadership roles. This includes not only empowering women to take leadership positions but also ensuring that they have the necessary support, mentorship, and resources to succeed, which is, thankfully, already an emerging trend. In a nutshell, to remain on par, we must be equally bold in our pursuit of excellence with all of our different roles in life.
