SALALAH – The International Conference of Omani Society of Emergency Medicine (OSEM) concluded today in the Wilayat of Salalah, with recommendations to develop unified protocols to respond to disasters and crises in emergency departments.
The conference also stressed the need to enhance training for health personnel handling critical cases, establish integrated poison control centres and expand the use of digital technology for improving the quality of emergency healthcare services, notably in areas with limited access.
The conference underscored the importance of consolidating the role of communities in emergency preparedness, updating curricula on the study of emergency medicine and adopting advanced technologies in emergency departments to improve the accuracy of diagnosis and the speed of response.
Hosted by the Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar Governorate, the conference was organised by OSEM in cooperation at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah. More than 40 specialists from Oman and abroad took part in the 3-day conference.
