MUSCAT – The trickle of smiles that broke on the lips of citizens and residents when the first drizzle since a long time hit the city soon turned into pursed lips and frowns when the clouds broke into a heavy downpour, flooding low-lying areas and making some streets and roads slightly dangerous to tread.
But, the first rains were a welcome change from the sweltering heat and the mood of joy and frustration played differently on those who were snug in the confines of their homes and others who had no choice but to venture out.
While the MeT office predicted more rains in and around the city, the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) has requested those venturing out of their homes and crossing wadis during the rains to exercise caution.
