A number of Al Samood sports team members also expressed their happiness over the project’s inauguration. Wael Abdullah Al Saqri, a team player, said: “This project is anticipated to make a big difference in the way of training and playing, as good lighting will allow us to practice in the evening, which gives us more flexibility in the timings. Thus, we will give our best and achieve our goals. I would like to thank Bank Muscat for its commitment to sports development.”
Abdullah Sadood Al Hajri, another player, emphasised that the project not only boosts performance but also enriches the playing environment for players and fans alike. “Thank you, Bank Muscat, for Green Sports programme, as this type of support contributes to the development of sports infrastructure and enhances team spirit and competition between local teams,” he said.
The Green Sports programme by Bank Muscat aims to bolster Oman’s sports infrastructure by funding national teams’ projects, promoting green spaces, and fostering community engagement. The programme has continued to achieve success since its launch in 2012, and this is evident through the intense competition by the national teams to benefit from the funding provided annually.
The programme has been a model of success, with numerous teams competing annually for funding. To date, the programme has supported 203 teams, benefiting over 70,000 members across various governorates. The initiative serves as a benchmark for supporting local communities in sports and cultural fields, ensuring the sustainability of projects and providing venues for diverse activities, thereby enhancing the sporting landscape across Oman.
