MUSCAT — Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir [Cambridge] held its Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2026–27 recently, formally inducting 48 newly elected student leaders from Grades 3 to A Level as members of the Student Council.
The ceremony, held at the school campus, was graced by Captain Modit Soni, Defence Attaché at the Embassy of India, Sultanate of Oman, who attended as Chief Guest. A distinguished Communication and Electronic Warfare specialist with over two decades of service in the Indian Navy, Captain Soni delivered an inspiring address in which he commended the role of educators and parents in shaping future leaders. Drawing from his own journey from a school prefect to a naval officer he emphasised that true leadership is rooted in knowledge, competence, integrity, and selfless service. Referring to the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita, he encouraged the student leaders to lead with vision, humility, resilience, and a sense of responsibility.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a dance presentation titled Wings of Power, which celebrated the ideals of leadership, unity, and responsibility. The newly elected Student Council members were then formally invested with their badges of office and administered the Oath of Office, pledging to uphold the values of integrity, discipline, and service.
Outgoing School Captain Cailyn Justine Durham addressed the gathering, reflecting on her leadership journey and congratulating the incoming Council. She encouraged the new office-bearers to believe in themselves and inspire others through their actions.
A symbolic Passing of the Baton by the House Coordinators marked the seamless transition of leadership, signifying continuity and shared responsibility.
The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by School Captain Rahil Maniar, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, members of the School Management Committee, school leadership, educators, parents, and students for their support in making the occasion memorable.
The Investiture Ceremony reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing confident, compassionate, and responsible global citizens in alignment with the Cambridge Learner Attributes, and inspired the newly elected Student Council to uphold the vision and values of ISWK [Cambridge] with dedication and excellence throughout the academic year.
