The Omani woman has historically stood out in several ways—her leadership, initiative, responsibility, balance, and determination, points out NOOF SAID AL SAIDI, head of marketing section, A’Sharqiyah University.
“She has made significant contributions to the development of society, science, and the economy in both Arab and global history,” Noof Al Saidi said in remarks made to the Purple online.
Strong personality
Regardless of the central issues that the world continues to debate, such as equality and justice, the Omani woman, with her strong personality and presence, has proven her importance and role, she noted.
Shining examples
“Numerous iconic Omani women have emerged as shining examples, not just for Omani women, but for Arab women everywhere,” Noof pointed out.  “They embody leadership, resilience, and innovation, and we take immense pride in their achievements. The future of Oman is bright, and we confidently look forward to their continued impact in driving the nation toward further success and prosperity,” she added.

EXCERPTS:
Women’s Day generally brings forth many thoughts: women’s equality/gender parity; women’s rights’ and the foremost need to break the bias (against women). Here, in Oman, could we say that it is more than just celebrating womanhood; here it is celebrating the success (various types of success, not just the monetary kind) of Omani women and also the unique integration between the two genders, who are working together to achieve a better future for Oman? Your thoughts on this.
Omani Women’s Day is more than just a celebration of women. I believe that His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, may he rest in peace, chose this day for significant and exceptional reasons. There is already an International Women’s Day, but the Omani woman has historically stood out in several ways—her leadership, initiative, responsibility, balance, and determination. She has made significant contributions to the development of society, science, and the economy in both Arab and global history. Regardless of the central issues that the world continues to debate, such as equality and justice, the Omani woman, with her strong personality and presence, has proven her importance and role.

How would you view the growth and advancement of Omani women in the last many years? What would you like to say about that?
In recent years, the world has witnessed rapid and remarkable progress in every aspect, and Omani women have not only kept pace with this development but have also played a pivotal role in shaping it. Their contributions span across various fields—science, arts, economics, and society—demonstrating their versatility and strength. Numerous iconic Omani women have emerged as shining examples, not just for Omani women, but for Arab women everywhere. They embody leadership, resilience, and innovation, and we take immense pride in their achievements. The future of Oman is bright, and we confidently look forward to their continued impact in driving the nation toward further success and prosperity.

Also, with regards to the advancement, would you say that today the Omani woman is on par with any other woman of the world? If not, what more should be done?
With her intelligence and strong presence, the Omani woman has successfully stood shoulder to shoulder with women around the world, excelling in diverse fields such as literature, art, education, and science. She has mastered the delicate balance between maintaining a powerful media presence and achieving tangible, meaningful accomplishments. Today, her contributions are indispensable across public and private institutions alike.
Looking forward, one of the key areas for further development is a deeper understanding of the psychological and physiological needs that set women apart from men. While our era is rightly focused on equality, it’s important to remember that equality does not always equate to justice. The emotional and mental strength that women bring to the table requires unique support to sustain their contributions at work and home. It’s unrealistic to approach men and women with the same mindset, and thus, there’s a pressing need to recognise and address the specific needs of women in the workplace, in their homes, and their broader roles and rights. Understanding these nuances is essential for ensuring that women can continue to thrive and lead in all aspects of society.
