MUSCAT – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth launched a “Youth Ambassadors Programme”.

The programme is being implemented in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The 4-day programme is carried out at Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science in Muscat Governorate. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs.

The programme seeks to prepare young people to participate professionally in regional and international forums, including events organized by UN organizations, and join Oman’s official delegations taking part in regional and international conferences.

Hilal Saif Al Siyabi, who heads the Directorate General of Youth at the Ministry, said that the programme will be attended by 100 young men and women from 14 GCC and other Arab states. During the programme, training workshops will be held in cooperation with the UNITAR, he added.

Al Siyabi pointed out that the programme, aimed to discover youth leadership and diplomacy talents, will include a simulation session to be conducted in cooperation with the UNITAR. The session will discuss key global issues facing youth and mechanisms to address the challenges. Participants will role-play diplomats and official spokespersons for different countries and organizations. They will engage in discussions and negotiations on issues of great significance to world youth.
