MUSCAT – The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation announced the conclusion of registration to the 11th National Research Award.
As many as 274 applications were submitted for the award, including 167 presented by researchers holding the doctorate degree (PhD holders—first category) and 107 by non-PhD holders (second category).
The applications were distributed as follows: 52 in the health and community service segment; 50 in the environment and vital resources segment; 76 in the education and human resources segment; 43 applications in the culture, social and basic sciences segment; 34 in the energy and industry segment; and 19 applications in the communications and information systems segment.
The award is given to six winners in each of the two abovementioned categories:
Category 1 of the award is dedicated to the “Best Published Scientific Research” submitted by holders of the PhD or its equivalents (Senior Specialists, physicians only).
Category 2 is dedicated to the “Best Published Scientific Research” submitted by non-PhD holders.
The winners of the awards set for each category will be honoured in December 2024.
